Sarah's Thyroid Cancer Diagnosis & Treatment Plan

Dear friends,

This is not easy news to share, but it's important and I want you to know what's going on. You may have noticed I haven't been as active on social media, nor has my tour calendar seemed very busy, especially right after releasing my debut full-length solo album. To make a long story short, I have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

Thyroid cancer is typically treated surgically and my surgeon currently anticipates 2 surgeries for me, with the first schedule for July 31. It's pretty scary to think about surgery so close to my voice/laryngeal nerves, but I am in good hands. My doctor has said we are likely looking at at least a 3-4 month timeline from the last surgery until I can sing again. I will also need extensive vocal rehab, even if surgery goes well, to ensure the best vocal outcome after surgery.

In the meantime, if I have seemed a bit "off" these last few weeks surrounding the album release, the diagnosis was completely shocking. Going from releasing an album on a Friday to a preliminary cancer diagnosis the following Monday - right when promotion was ramping up - has been, to be frank, awful.

Although I will miss some months of touring and album promo, I can't wait to get back on stage once I am better. I will be losing out on tour income for a few months, and my post-op vocal rehab will be intense, so for those who wish to support, please feel free to grab some merch (new print on demand options available now!), join me on Patreon, or send a few bucks via Venmo/Paypal - various support options (including wish list items to help make recovery more comfortable) are linked here: https://sarahkingsings.com/support

Please remember the best support you can give me is listening to and sharing my music (and engaging with social media), so that when I am ready to perform again, people will be excited to buy tickets to come see me live. In the coming months I'll be sharing more about what led us to the diagnosis, some info about thyroid cancer and how surgery may affect my voice, etc.

Thank you, as always, for being here, and listening. I am so thankful to each and every one of you. Please give someone you love a hug today for me. XOXO
